Privacy Policy

What data Vayu collects

None. Vayu does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data about you. There is no account, no login, no analytics SDK, and no advertising framework — in the app or on this website.

What stays on your device

The following is stored locally on your device only and never leaves it:

• Flight numbers you have searched (recent history)
• Flights you have marked as favourites
• App settings (time format, distance unit, notification preferences)

This data lives in your device's local storage. It is not synced to any cloud service, transmitted to any server, or accessible to anyone but you. Deleting the app removes all of it.

Third-party data sources

When you track a flight, Vayu contacts the following external services to retrieve publicly available flight data:

• airplanes.live — live ADS-B radar positions (public data)
• OpenSky Network — live ADS-B radar positions (public data)
• AeroDataBox (via a server-side proxy) — scheduled flight data, departure/arrival times, and status

These requests include your device's IP address as part of normal internet traffic. Vayu does not send any other identifying information. The proxy server does not log flight queries or IP addresses beyond what the hosting infrastructure (Cloudflare Workers) handles automatically for security.

This website

The Vayu website uses the same API proxy as the app to look up flight data. No cookies, no tracking scripts, no analytics. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which may log basic access information (IP address, request timestamp) in accordance with Cloudflare's privacy policy. Vayu does not have access to these logs.

Push notifications (app only)

If you enable notifications, Vayu may send alerts about the flights you are actively tracking. These are generated by the app based on data it has already fetched. No flight data is sent to a third-party notification server beyond what Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM) require to deliver the notification to your device.

Live Activities — Dynamic Island and Lock Screen (iOS only)

Live Activity updates are generated locally on your device using data already fetched by the app. No personal data is transmitted to enable this feature.

Children

Vayu does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If anything changes, the updated policy will be posted here with a new date. Given that Vayu collects no data, material changes are unlikely.
